Cincinnati v. Mt St Mary's Preview
It's basketball season kids. Tonight at 7 on FSN Ohio, and maybe by streaming sites, and the radio, the Bearcats tip off the 2010-11 season against Mt St Mary's. It's too early in the season to do a Know Your Opponent piece with the KenPom numbers like I did last season, so we will do what we did in the Big East tournament, and run down the stat leaders and what to look for. Let's start off with the Bearcats.

I posted that little diddy because I have a feeling this team is going to bomb the three, and they are obviously not good at it. The team was 4-14 and 4-21 in exhibition play. Hopefully the second game was them fucking around, because that's horrible and made my eyes hurt.

The Mount played 8 players against Dayton in their 67-52 loss. The Flyers crushed them on the boards, nearly doubling the total. The Flyers had nearly as many offensive rebounds as the Mount had rebounds. UD managed to shoot 40%, even though they went 5-21 from 3. The Bearcats might fall into the three point trap in this game as well.
Here are 3 keys for the game.
- Rebound. The Mountaineers didn't rebound well against UD as noted, and have just 6 players 6'7 or 6'8. Only 3 of them play. Gotta clean up.
- Free throw shooting. I'd like to see at least 74%. I meant to hit 5, but hey, 74 isn't bad.
- Pass the ball. Let's get some motion going. I want to see at least 2 alley oops. Why else does Darnell Wilks get minutes? Of course, we have to see one of these set up by a nice pass.
- My prediction is a walk. KenPom has UC winning 71-56. I'm going to keep it in the ballpark, but go a little higher and lower. I say Cincinnati 75 Mount St Mary's 54.
