Cincinnati's Seniors, Crosstown Shootout Time, and More

Written by Scott on .

Bearcats Blog has a couple things to throw at you this Friday. First, I hope everyone has a nice weekend. I would have a nice weekend if 2 more people followed me on twitter. You could also like me on facebook, and imposter me on google + since I don't have that.

Second, support Emily Hayden and I guess the rest of the volleyball team, as they open the season in a tournament at Northern Illinois. That tournament has a couple of ranked teams in it, so it's a big chance for the ladies to make an impact.

Third, former Bearcat Cody Kater begins his JUCO career tonight, as the Grand Rapids Community College QB. Hey, not a lot happening this week. The calm before the storm.

Fourth, the Bearcats are expecting a visit from 2012 PG Terry Rozier, as are Louisville and Illinois. It sounds like UC has to knock his socks off to get the basketball version of Mr Shaker Heights to come to UC. The football version is Shaq Washington. File that under things I remember from twitter.

Fifth, FSN announced their UC schedule. Tommy G will be hosting a Bearcats preview that airs TONIGHT after the Reds game and postgame. That preview will air at various times throughout the week. Full schedule here. The Butch Jones show returns Thursday, September 8 at 6 PM, and airs every subsequent Thursday at 6 throughout the season. FSN will be airing the Austin Peay game live next Saturday, in HD, but they will also replay all 12 games Sunday nights at 11. That goes for Tennessee, NC State, Louisville, West Virginia, all of them.

Sixth, the time for the Crosstown Shootout has just been announced. The Bearcats take the long, hard trip 8 miles to the Cintas Center to play the Muskies December 10, 12:30 on ESPN 2. So not only does Xavier hosting get the game on ESPN 2, but they get it at 12:30. Way to drop the ball, X. Just when you think Xavier couldn't be good for less, they dig the hole deeper.

We close this week with another picture by the man Alex Apyan. Alex was spectating at Camp Higher Ground, and caught this picture on the last day. From left to right, it's Randy Martinez, John Hughes, Evan Davis, JK Schaffer, Alex Hoffman and Derek Wolfe. Great shot.
