Bearcats Keep Keg

It was not very pretty, but the Bearcats (5-1,1-0) kept the Keg of Nails in a tough 25-16 win over Louisville (2-4, 0-1). The biggest play of the game was Isaiah Pead busting a 2nd and 10 handoff 50 yards up the middle for the go ahead score. Pead had only 12 touches before that. When Isaiah Pead isn't getting the ball, the Bearcats offense struggles. That was the case today. Matters weren't helped when Zach Collaros threw an ill advised pass that Mike Evans picked off for a TD. That made the score 16-7. The Bearcats defense clamped down on the Cards. Derek Wolfe had 11 tackles and couldn't be blocked all day. Cam Cheatham made a nice play on a 4th down pass to bat it away from Michaelee Harris. Dominique Battle had an INT.

The biggest sequence of the game happened before the Pead run. Louisville put gun to foot, going illegal shift, holding, false start, and after a short run, another false start. Their 3rd and 38 play didn't work. UC took over at midfield, and you know the rest. Louisville did not score the second half. For the first time since the mid 80s, UC has beaten Louisville 4 times in a row. UC is one win from being bowl eligibile.
