The Bearcats Survive Texas Rally and Advance 65-59
The Cincinnati Bearcats pulled off a 65-59 win over Texas in second (first) round of the NCAA tournament today. The Bearcats blew a 36-17 lead when UC switched to a zone defense for some reason that is unknown. UC played man nearly the entire first half. They switched to zone and Texas made open shots. The Longhorns tied the game at 52 with 3 minutes left, but the Bearcats got points from the guys who get them late. Yancy Gates scored on a post move, Cashmere Wright scored on a layup and Gates hit an 18 footer from the right wing. It was one of those oh no, OH YES shots that make rooting for teams crazy. The Bearcats were able to ice the game at the line.
Cincinnati will take on the winner of the Florida State/St Bonaventure game played later this afternoon.
