Cincinnati to Start Series with New Mexico
The Cincinnati Bearcats will play the New Mexico Lobos in a home and home series starting this season. The first game will be in Cincinnati before the Bearcats visit the Pit. This is per Eamon Brennan of ESPN. Brennan also quotes Cronin on saying that UC wants a marquee home game for the Big East/SEC Invitational. Match-ups for that should be announced some time in June.
As for New Mexico, this is a great series to start. The Lobos have won at least 22 games in all of Steve Alford's years. They have been to the NCAA tournament in 2 of the past 3 seasons. They are considered to be a borderline top 25 team as we come up on this season. All in all, it's a very solid move. It's one that needed to happen as well. There have been a lot of critics of the non-conference basketball schedule the past couple of seasons, this guy for one, and to see the Bearcats land a solid game against a very formidable foe from a tough league is a good thing.
Here is the reaction from Cashmere Wright.
Still love that guy in the background.
