Breaking Down the Scoring Plays Vs Delaware St
Non-scoring Play: 31 yard run by George Winn
This is a 3 receiver, 1 tight end (to the left) formation. The play is a sweep.
That's Austen Bujnoch leading the way for Winn as the receivers get down the field and block.
Look at the receiver, I think that's Julian, maintaining a block 20 yards downfield. Winn tries to cut back here, but he is tackled. Bujnoch was not fast enough to block 44.
Scoring Play #1: Jameel Poteat 1 yard run
Nothing fancy with a big formation.
Poteat is on the right side of the line, which caved in the Delaware St defense well enough for Poteat to burrow his way in for the score.
Scoring Play #2: 8 yard TD pass to Anthony McClung
UC spreads out the Hornets with trips on the left. The play action freezes the blitzer, linebackers and the nearest defensive back. Meanwhile, 2 blockers are already in front of Anthony McClung.
You can really tell how much the Hornets bit on the play action. McClung has 2 defenders in front of him and 2 blockers in which to block them.

McClung wasn't able to waltz in as Delaware St recovered somehwat. It looks like Kelce missed his block. You can see McClung putting the ole on that defensive back a second before he dove in the end zone.
Scoring play #3: 11 yard TD pass to Damon Julian
4 receiver set on this 3rd and 9. The Cats need the 2 for a first down.
We know this play ends up working very well, but Julian catches the ball 3 yards from the marker with 2 guys around him. Also, look at the pocket. It's very clean. One of the Hornets is shoved past the 20 yard line.
Julian makes the play work by breaking the initial tackle and spins his way towards the goal line. The end of the play looked like this.
I'm going to put the next two plays under the jump because the ESPN3 quality dropped and I don't have time to go back and do this again.
Non-scoring play: 33 yard pass to Damon Julian
Late in the first half, UC went quick. Julian is in 1 on 1 coverage at the bottom of the photo.
Look at this protection. There isn't a guy within 3 yards of Munchie. Part of that is because of the 3 man rush. But look at all the room Munchie has to step into his throw.

It paid off because he hit Julian in stride. Threaded the needle, so to speak. Julian would get caught by the safety, but he dragged him to the 38.
Non-scoring play: 23 yard run by Ralph David Abernathy

The Bearcats hit up the Hornets quickly on this play. It's a 3 receiver, 1 tight end formation.
In the old Madden games, they would say "That's a hole you could drive a MAC truck through." That's way too easy for RDA IV.
The remarkable thing about this cut is that RDA made it at full speed. He was taken down at the 5.
